The Plumbago is strategically located a few minutes' drive from Guardistallo, a delightful medieval village on the hills overlooking the Etruscan Riviera, 12km from the sea. A few kilometres away you can visit the medieval villages of Casale Marittimo, Montescudaio, Castagneto Carducci, Bolgheri and Etruscan sites. In a few minutes by car you can reach the Tyrrhenian coast (Cecina Km 9) with sandy beaches and cool pinewoods. Its favourable position makes it an excellent starting point to places of natural and cultural interest. From here you can easily organise day trips to the most interesting places in Tuscany: Pisa, Lucca, Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra, Massa Marittima, Bolgheri and the famous wine "DOC area" (recommended wine tasting and visits to the award-winning wine cellars of Ornellaia, Sassicaia, Guado al Tasso or Grattamacco. Other no less important destinations are a visit to the Island of Elba, the spas of Venturina and Casciana Terme with hot thermal water and mud baths, the Val di Cornia Parks, and the Maremma Nature Reserve Park.
Sports enthusiasts are spoilt for choice: from water sports (swimming, sailing, windsurfing), to running (in the cool pine forests of Marina di Cecina, in the woods or on the hill roads), to cycling. The Costa degli Etruschi is an ideal destination for cyclists, who can cycle between hills and plains.
For golf lovers, the closest courses are those of Tirrenia and Punta Ala.
For our younger guests, we recommend the amusement parks for children: the Cavallino Matto in Marina di Donoratico (16 km) the Prehistoric Park in Peccioli (40 km), the Acqua Village in Cecina Mare (12 km). Those who love nature and acrobatics can try the Adventure Park 'Il Giardino Sospeso' in Giardino (Riparbella, 10 km) with acrobatic courses in the trees.
Rome can be reached in 2 1/2 hours, Florence 1 hour, Pisa 50 minutes, Siena 2 hours, Volterra 30 minutes.
The beaches can be reached in 15 minutes, with the possibility of boarding for the islands of the Tuscan Archipelago.
